I've tried for years to get a picture of the Milky Way but without much success. The trouble in Farmersville is light pollution The trouble in Idaho was wildfires in Canada streaming smoke across our area. But on August 8 we were in Bear Lake and about sunset the skies began to clear. I traveled to the public access point nearest the Dayton Club so I could shoot across the lake to the south. Here is the final result.
This is 16 minutes of exposures stacked. My Google Pixel 4A with 5G allows for internal stacking for about 4 minutes in an astrophotography mode. I stacked four of those shots with Sequator. Compare the above image to a single 4 minute stack right out of the phone.
The Pixel also animates the 4 minute stack. It's reduced to a one minute movie. This is what it looked like:
So, success at last.
